River Summit 2015

The Tri-State Watershed Alliance will be hosting River Summit 2015 in Ft. Wayne April 8, 9, 11. This is an opportunity for the region to come together for a Study and Celebration of our most valuable resource – WATER.
The first River Summit in Ft. Wayne was held during the summer of 2011. Many successes have taken place in safeguarding our water resources throughout the WLEB. Beyond the current needs of industry and municipalities, communities are increasingly looking to the natural environment around their rivers for new economic development opportunities. Yet recent news events about the waters of the Maumee River Watershed, which comprises most of the WLEB, have left citizens worried and fearful about the safety of their local rivers.
The 2015 River Summit will bring together professional organizations during the day on April 8 to meet in one location providing an opportunity for their collaboration on pressing water issues. The evening of April 8 will be an opportunity for leaders throughout the region to hear the successes and new issues facing the water resources in their communities. April 9 is a full day of information and education for residents and professionals alike. The focus of the day will be to better understand the current state of our rivers and the opportunities rivers offer for economic growth and community building.
The last day of the 2015 River Summit is Saturday April 11. This will be a family focused day on and along our rivers providing experiences associated with the multiple facets our rivers and riverine environment has to offer.
